ICCP provides the service of conducting MARRIAGE / NIKAH ceremonies for individuals of the Muslim faith who wish to get married. These ceremonies can be held at the ICCP premises or at locations of the couple's choosing that are within a reasonable geographical distance. The Nikah ceremony will be officiated by Imam Refai Arefin, Imam Tarek Elgawhary, or Qari Anas Benzari.

Obtain a marriage license from the county where the nikah ceremony is to be performed. This may be different than the county where bride or bridegroom lives.
Per MD Family Law § 2-401, it's illegal for an imam or anyone to perform a marriage ceremony without a valid marriage license from the Circuit Court. Penalty: up to $500 fine.
If you wish to perform the nikah ceremony at ICCP or at any other location in Montgomery County, please ensure you obtain your marriage license before the ceremony from:
Montgomery County Circuit CourtPlease bring your valid marriage license with you on the day of the ceremony. The marriage license must be obtained prior to the nikah ceremony. Ensure that all information on the license is correct and that it has been properly filled by the issuing authority. The license should not have expired.
Before the ceremony, you'll need to meet with the ICCP Imam to discuss the marriage contract and the Islamic requirements for nikah. This discussion will cover the rights and responsibilities of both parties, the mahr (dowry), and any conditions that should be included in the marriage contract.
Islamic marriages necessitate the presence of at least two adult Muslim witnesses during the nikah ceremony. These witnesses must be of sound mind and capable of providing testimony that they witnessed the marriage contract being mutually agreed upon by both parties. Additionally, they will sign the required documents.
The Nikah fee is $500, which includes the officiant’s fee.
If the Imam is required to conduct the Nikah outside of ICCP, additional charges will apply based on mileage.
